Prayer is absolutely essential to and inseparable from being a follower of Jesus Christ, and the new life that comes with it. The Bible tells us to, “Be constant in prayer.”
“O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker. ” - Psalm 95:6
“Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.” – Psalm 47:6
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” - Matthew 7:7-8
JESUS’ TEACHING ON PRAYER
One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”
He said to them, “When you pray, say: Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.” – Luke 11:1-4
